This heart of downtown Detroit is always buzzy and bustling. Multiple restaurants, bars, and coffee shops in the area. Beautiful at Christmas and during the jazz fest and a nice place to hang all year round. Walking distance to the waterfront and Hart Plaza. Street parking, lot parking, and parking garages abound. Q line stops. All the main street arteries of Detroit converge here so it's easy to get to. Market at Christmas along with an ice skating rink and tree lighting. Free street parking the day after Thanksgiving.
Campus Martius, in downtown Detroit, is the site for the main stage for the Detroit Jazz Festival. This pleasant area, dotted with restaurants, coffee shops, hotels and other commercial venues, typically is dotted during the day with folks strolling or having lunch. This was the week for the Detroit Jazz Festival, and Campus Martius hosts the main stage, so the place was packed. The crowd was in great spirits, I saw no disturbances in my 3 days' attendance. This site is one block back from the waterfront, about 2 blocks from the Renaissance Center within walking distance from sports arenas for the Red Wings and Tigers, and soon the Pistons. Enjoy!
I love this place. It's so relaxing and smack dab in the middle of downtown. Lots of food trucks, hard Rock Cafe, CVS, Nike outlet, under armour, Greek Town, lots of great places in walking distance. I love going down and watching the ice skaters.
Visited here with the family during the holiday season to enjoy skating in the park. Skating was pricey but the experience was unique, convenient, and everything was well done. Ended up walking around enjoying the Christmas market and taking in the lovely atmosphere with downtown lit up for the season.
Nice to finally see Detroit with some life. Its safe and populated now. Hard to park for the first time in the twenty years I've been coming here. Usually not impossible like a Chicago or NY but def not easy. Plenty to walk around and enjoy.
